Editing
I help authors develop ambitious, meaningful books, fiction and nonfiction alike.
I am the managing editor at World Editions, American publisher of quality international fiction. In addition, I provide editorial support to publishers and independent authors on a project basis. My background in literary publishing allows me to hold the future reader’s experience, the book’s structure, the prose’s integrity, as well as the writer’s vulnerability.
Whether you’re working on a literary novel, memoir, or ambitious essay, I bring my wide reading and focused presence to your project. I approach the editorial relationship with respect for your deeper creative process, bringing a balance of intuition and knowledge of craft. With my edits, I can help you develop a fledgling idea and stay with you until the final comma has been deliberated. In addition, I offer guidance in helping you pinpoint why the theme matters to you. Not only will staying closely connected to the way the book matters to you now help grow it into the best version of itself — it will help catalyse the growth.
An inveterate word nerd, I happily copyedit anything.
I’ve worked with prizewinning authors and beginning writers alike at different stages in the book’s development.

Translation
I translate contemporary Dutch-language fiction and poetry into living English.
My translations aim to be as layered, dynamic and idiosyncratic as the originals — responsive to voice, tone, rhythm, and the cultural context they carry. I’ve written translations for major UK and US publishers, including Viking, Pantheon and Bloomsbury.
I approach translation as a form of deep listening to the broader context and deeper realities that animate the words, in the Dutch and the English. I work closely with authors when possible, and am in regular contact with institutions in the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands as a cultural bridge.
Sample translations and published titles available on request.
I’m currently pitching the following titles. English sample and rights are available for each.
Workshops
I am developing creative writing workshops informed by the relational arts, in which we practise integrating our literary practice with our life process.
This is a quietly growing branch of my work. After years of practise in the relational arts — authentic relating, circling, transformational connection — I am eager to explore the ways in which this approach can help catalyse a deeper relationship with our daily literary practice.
We’ll explore ways in which slowness and present attention can help us get closer to the heart of words. This is transformative to our craft and creative self-awareness, and it can equally catalyse personal growth. In fact, my thesis is that these two things are inextricably linked: great writing is written through a process of transformation.
The sessions will be couched in a space of authentic togetherness, inviting each to be themselves within the group. Then, we will bring creative writing alive in myriad ways: we’ll irreverently play around with classic texts, share and receive feedback on our writing, we’ll explore details of craft with a balance of intuition and rigour, and we’ll be witnessed by the group in the vulnerable moment of creative expression.
I’ll share more when I begin offering these publicly. For now, I’m slowly developing this work in dialogue with small groups of trusted collaborators.
Writing
I write fiction, essays, and poetry in Dutch and English. I am an enthusiast of small-scale sharing, but some recent publications include:
